If you haven’t heard of us, we’re Portland’s funky little bug zoo and small natural history museum. We offer field trips, private tours, or ticketed visits during business hours. The Insectarium has tons of live animals for viewing, touching, and holding, plus a plethora of bug themed activities. Through being a mini museum, we are able to offer intimate, hands-on informal learning that you just can’t get from bigger organizations. It’s our way of sharing what we love with Portland’s community, and we hope to inspire others to share their passions too.

Star Tropics Pinball Museum brings you the iconic, stylish, action-packed history of the pinball gaming phenomenon. Portland, Oregon currently has the most pinball machines per capita in the world, and our project provides a hands-on experience where you can play pinball games and see how they work. Our displays span the vintage, retro, and modern eras of pinball and show our community a behind-the-scenes look of the art, music, electronics, and mechanisms that bring pinball to life.

By posing as a quirky Portland tourist attraction, the Zymoglyphic Museum provides an art experience to people who may never otherwise go to an art gallery or museum. Its holdings inspire creative people, who may not think of themselves as artists, to create art that does not require art education or technical skills. Its residency and internship programs provide opportunities for scholars and both emerging and established artists to engage with the themes of the museum. The museum encourages by example the idea of personal museums as an art medium and a means of self-expression.
